The Lord’s Patience

“The Lord is not slow. . . He is patient.

Bear in mind that our Lord ‘s patience

means salvation . . . . 2Peter 3:9,15 NIV

We often wonder when God will answer or prayer for a loved one. Likewise, we sometimes long for Jesus to return to earth and claim His throne.

Our role in the prayer process is to keep on praying. God’s part in all this is to answer our requests in His time. Sometimes, we become impatient, even tired of waiting for a response to our pleas.

Our impatience is due to the world we live in. We go to a fast food restaurant and use the drive through. We receive our order in less than five minutes after we order. If we choose to eat at home, we might pop something into the microwave and it’s done in a matter of a few minutes. We have caused this lack of patience ourselves.

God, is patient. He works things out according to His timing. He tells us “a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day.” (2 peter3:8 NIV) In the Old Testament, He tells us “ . . . My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways.” (Isaiah 55:8 NKJV)

  1. We do live in a microwave society, don't we? Thanks for sharing this, Cecelia.
