“For this God is our
God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.
Psalm 48:14 (NIV)
I like this thought about God. The sons of Korah wrote it at the end of what became the 48th chapter of the book of Psalms.
“For this God is our God. . .” These words allow us to say that God is there for us. Isaiah 41:10 tells us God says “I am your God.” The sons of Korah express the idea that they recognize the role that God belongs to them, (and to us.)
” . . . forever and ever. . .”
Sometimes we, as individuals, yearn for permanence in our
relationships-personal and working. We have that long-enduring affinity when we
have God. He not only will be with us while we walk this earth but He is
building us a home with Him in heaven.
” . . . he will be . . .” Did you catch it? Do you see it? Our text
says “WILL BE.” The phrase doesn’t say “might be”, “could be”, or even “should
be.” The verb ‘will’ implies a certainty about a deed or an event. When I
worked for the Army, one of the branches I worked in was headed up by a major.
When he wanted us to realize we were to do something, he said, “You will.
. . and he’d finish his thought.” By doing this, he left no doubt as to what he
expected. That task would be done as he expected.
” . . . our guide. . .” God takes us by the hand and leads us through the minefields of our lives. These minefields are not always of our making. We have issues that come into our lives because of some relationship with another. Some events occur because they can be a part of life or someone can be in the wrong place at the wrong time. A man in a small town just south of where we live was there recently. He stopped his truck to help a woman who was being held by her estranged husband. The husband took the life of the man and then took his own. The lady who was in distress went to the wife of the gentleman who tried to rescue her and told her what he attempted to do. The rescuer lived 30 feet from where his life was taken.
” . . . even to the end . . .” Once we
ask Jesus into our hearts, He is with us, guiding us every day of our lives.
When we go to heaven we will be with Him forever. For this I am very thankful.
With GOD as our guide, we cannot go astray. It's only when we take our eyes off of Him that we get lost. Thank you for these words today.

DeleteYou're welcome. I've been dealing with numbers all day. I couldn't understand part of what I was seeing. It didn't help that I didn't get a lot of sleep. He had to guide me through getting my stuff done today.
