Faith Hope and Charity

Faith “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1 (NIV) Faith, reliance on another, helps when we find ourselves facing an experience we can’t handle by ourselves. We display our faith when we arise in the mornings and begin our days. We exercise our faith when we purchase a home or a vehicle.

Hope “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. . .” 1 Peter 1:3 (NIV) One of my fellow bloggers left me a comment that defined hope as earnest expectation. I like this meaning.

Charity “. . . but the greatest of these is charity.” 1 Corinthians 13:13 (KJV) Charity is an old-time word for love. I wonder which Greek word for love is synonymous with charity. We display charity or love when we stand with a friend as that friend faces a tough time.

  1. Faith, Hope and Charity (LOVE), is the theme for our home this year. I pray that God will give me the ability to practice what He taught in these words above. Thank you for this reminder today. Sorry I haven't been commenting much lately...have been busy and just not getting my blog reading done like I need to...or my writing either. Today I am praying God will help me get back where I need to be in all of these departments! Blessings to you to day. Thank you.

Thank you for stopping in and your warm comment. We all have times where our real lives compete with our writing lives. I may have a stretch of this coming into my life.

  2. Glad you brought these up! I find I often focus on one at a time, not a bad thing, really, but I need to remember how they work together. Thank you! :)

    1. Karen: Thank you for stopping by. Some of the passages in the Bible may be understood better if we looked at them as a unit. The Beatitudes come to mind. I Corinthians 13 is another.

      Enjoy your week.

  3. "...certain of what we cannot see." And this is the very hard part, isn't it?

Gives me food for thought on this gray spring day, Cecelia.

Thanks for visiting, today. Yes, this is the hard part of exercising our faith. We can not see beyond this second. Yet, God sees the big picture. He knows what will happen and when. We have to learn to trust Him.
