Some Summer Snapshots

Our side yard this summer. These Sunflowers didn't make it.
They were in a plastic pot. I had Hubby break them apart
and put them around the pump. He also chose to spry paint the
pump AFTER the flowers were planted. Behind the pump and
to the left are most of Hubby's tomato plants.

These are the ones that made it. They are about 10-12 Feet tall.
We had to put chicken wire around the area to keep the rabbits from eating the
little sprouts.
Can you see the bee pollinating the bloom? This one had just
opened up a day or so before. Can you see the green in the center?

  2. Thank you. It's been fun watching them grow. We'd had more except for some hungry rabbits. They seem to like tender green leaves.

  3. Thank you for sharing these happy sunny faces with us today! I love sunflowers...and the birds will enjoy their seeds too! Even the little flowers around the pump look happy! Made me smile today. Thanks! Have a blessed Sunday tomorrow!

    1. Pam: Thank you for stopping by and enjoying our yard with us.

Those sunflowers around the pump didn't make it. But I know what to do next year. Chicken wire around the pump and tend them more carefully.

  4. HI Cecelia! I was just telling my husband that I would really like to grow sunflowers next year. My brother-in-law gave me really good seeds once, and those flowers were towers!

Your grass looks so good! You must have gotten a lot of rain? My husband would be jealous of all those tomatoes!

    Happy Weekend, my friend,
    Ceil

They have different varieties of sunflowers. Hubby wanted the "Tower" size. The tend to droop the longer they bloom. We had two saved from the rabbits that were orange. We like them. The are shorter. I have one of them in a bud vase here in my writing room.

  5. I love sunflowers. They bring a smile to my face. Even as a child, it was my favorite flower. Yes, I can see the bee in the last shot. :-)

Rabbits do, indeed, like tender green leaves. We had to wrap our small garden in chicken wire to keep the bunnies from munching on our collard greens.

Thanks for sharing these pictures! Be well.

Thank you for stopping by. I planted them around our pump last year but that's when the rabbits had a good meal. Next year, I will invest in chicken wire. We have some left from this year but I believe we will need more.(LOL)
