  2. Yes Cecelia, this is what Memorial Day is all about. May God bless all the soldiers and support staff who have defended all of us. They should be treated with the utmost respect and appreciation.
    Blessings,
    Ceil

    1. Ceil: I once rode to work with a woman who had two children. One year on July 4th, her daughter asked why the festivities were going on. The mother answered, "Because it's July 4th."But she really didn't know how to tell her daughter that it was America's birthday. I started telling my son it was America's birthday. He has membership in a Civil War group. When he lived in Kansas, he assisted with the cleaning of the graves of Civil War veterans. That national group had a feature of their program to teach school children about the honor that should be extended to veterans of ALL wars. Peace and Blessings to you and yours.

  3. Thank you, Cecelia. I had a friend when I was only twenty whose son was killed in action. That was the supreme sacrifice for that mama, and I can't imagine the pain.

    1. Jeanette: I understand. When I was in college the newspaper had an obituary of a boy I had liked several years earlier. I remember my dad showing extra concern towards me because of the piece in the paper. A friend of my uncle had a brother who was a career Marine. That brother's name is on the wall of Vietnam casualties. I didn't think to check on that boy's name when the smaller one came to our town.
