Complete Joy

“We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard,
so that you also may have fellowship with us.
And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
We write this to make our joy complete.” 1 John 1:3-4 (NIV)

Have you ever shared some good news with a friend so they can rejoice with you? Families of high school graduates usually have open house parties to honor the work of the teens.
We sometimes have to share news that is not especially good. But we know that when we do it, we have someone who will be there for us and mourn with us, if need be. A lady in our church has a son who is a Cancer patient in another state. Our prayer group recently prayed for him and his wife and children. Then we prayed over her. It was a holy time. I have since heard that the son is terminal.

John wanted to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and let those who heard that news share in the feeling of joy that revelation brought to them. When we share Christ with another person we have a new relationship with that person.

  1. This is true; I'd never thought about it that way before. We have so much to offer each other, don't we? What a blessing!

    1. Karen:Thank you for stopping by. Thank you for your insightful thoughts, Part of being in fellowship with others is to share their griefs as well as their joys,

  2. HI Cecelia! I recently did a post on joy, such a beautiful spiritual gift. We all hone in on things that are not going well in life ( I guess because it's upsetting) but miss all the great things God has put in our paths.

So sorry about your friends son. I am so glad you could bring the joy and comfort of Jesus to her through prayer.

    1. Ceil: Thank you for your kind words. My friend's son is with Jesus. It has just been a week since we prayed for him and his family and over his mother.
We need to learn to look for the good in all situations. That good tihing might be very small but when we find it, we are to rejoice.

  3. I think there is no better way to love a person than to pray for them and over them. How blessed your friend is to have you in her life!

    1. Jeanette: Thank you for your kind thoughts. Her son is with Jesus, now.

  4. Jeanette is right. Bless you for praying.

And it sure is time for graduations. After having two open houses, we've learned how meaningful it is when friends come to help us celebrate. We're more willing and eager now to pay that loving favor back by going and celebrating with others!

    1. Rhonda: We serve a God who hears and answers our prayers.
Celebrating the achievments of our young people shows them that we care for them. One of the open houses was for a young man who I have known since he was a baby.

I would be honored to hear what you think about this.
