“Speak and act as
those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom.”
James 2:12 (NIV)
When my son was small, I learned a children’s song. “O Be
Careful.” The verses speak warning of our need to exercise caution for our
eyes, our tongue, and our feet, our hearts and our minds to stay away from doing things that bring harm
to us because He loves us.
“Oh, be careful, little eyes what you see.” (Repeat 2
times)
Chorus: “For the Father up above is looking down in love.”
(Repeat verse 1 time)
“Oh, be careful, little eyes, what you see.” (Repeat 2
times)
Chorus:
(Repeat verse 1 time)
“Oh, be careful, little ears what you hear.”
(Repeat 2 times)
Chorus
"Oh be careful littel tongue, what you say" (Repeat 2 times)
Chorus
(Repeat verse 1 time)
We are saved by grace- the unmerited love of God. He is our
only judge; His law, when we obey it, gives us freedom from sin.

I can remember learning that song when I was little! It is a good one to remember even now as we are fully adults. A good message to tape to our tv and computer... I have a verse on my computer desk: "Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things. Philippians 4:8
ReplyDeleteThank you for this reminder today. It is good to be reminded.

DeleteSome of my friends remember singing kids songs when their children were small. One time I was trying to remember the words to one special song, My friend who still works in Christian Education at church couldn't remember it. But she knew who we could ask, one of our young adults who my friend had taught. Thak you for stopping in.
Blessings on you and yours.
Hi Cecelia! As I read the words of this post, the song was playing in my head. I had a tape I would play in the car when we traveled when the kids were little. This was one of the songs. That was a great tape!
ReplyDeleteAnd the message is not just for children. We adults need to heed those words too!
Blessings,
Ceil
Ceil;

Thenhad them because his wife took care of two of their grandchildren. I got to hear some I hadn't heard before. You are right, Those songs are for all of us. Blessings on you and yours.
