Advent Thoughts
“All this also comes from the LORD Almighty, wonderful in
counsel
and magnificent in
wisdom.” Isaiah 28:29 (NIV)
At different times in our lives we have needed to seek
advice from a person more knowledgeable than we. This advice may come from a
doctor, a lawyer, a therapist, an expert on rearing children.
Spiritually speaking, we have an adviser who watches over us
every day of our lives. He has watched over us since we were formed Psalm 139:13-16.
We call on Him when we have problems or illness in our lives. We worship and
praise Him when our lives run smoothly.
His name is Jesus. His role in our lives is that of
counselor. Isaiah describes Him as “wonderful counselor; what does that mean to
us? Have you had a time in your life where you sought God’s counsel over the
advice of earthly friends or worldly ‘experts’?
I remember last yr when I cornered a priest in desperation for help in making a decision..I pleaded for guidance, "what should I do?" he looked at me without missing a beat and said, "did you pray about it?" I could not believe I did not ask God!! oh my gosh!! that lesson stayed with me and now I try to seek His council... first...
ReplyDeleteI try....
Annmarie: Some of my friends and I know, if we have a problem, or a decision to make, we take it to the LORD first. This tactic has helped me grow more mature and closer to God. Thank you for stopping in.
DeleteI often seek the Lord's counsel. The older I get, the more I realize how little I know!
ReplyDeleteThanks and Merry Christmas,
Jen
Thank you, Jeanette. Where would we be without the Lord's counsel? Like you, the longer I live the less I seem to know.
