Summertime Around Our Home

Our venture into growing wild flowers in our back yard,

Trying to attract humming birds and butterflies

In our side yard,Sunflowers turned out to be tall ones.
A squirrel cut off the head of the tallest one and had a meal on the seeds.

The plants around the Community Garden sign.
I see the sign and the garden each time I go out our front door,
I thought these were Clematis but, close up they look like Hollyhocks.

Beautiful Hisbiscus
The subjects in the bottom three pictures are the work of one of our neighbors. The purple flowers and the Hibiscus are in their front yard.

  1. I love your wildflowers and neighborhood flowers...so bright and cheery. Love the sunflowers too! They are always smiling in the sunshine! Thank you for sharing these with us. They have made me pause from my "labors" and smile! Have a lovely day sweet friend.

    1. Thank you, Pam. And thank you for spending your break with me. We thought the sunflowers were going to be miniature ones, I believe Hubby counted three that were actually miniuatures. Blessings to you and yours,

    1. Marja: Thank you for your warm comment. I sometimes forget how quiet our yard is, We live on a fairly busy street. The chiggers have kept me away from enjoying it as I would like. Blessings to you and yours,

  4. I think the only green thumb I ever get is when I taste the pea soup :)

I do, however, love that the wild plants (I have nooo idea what any of them are called) around our property are blooming! The bees are aplenty and it's fun to watch as they do their fascinating pollination dance!

    1. Mark: Thank you for your visit. I used to arrange flowers as a hobby. One year, we did a wild flower arrangement for my stepmother for the 4th of July. Hubby went and collected different flowers, it turned out nice. I even put a red, white, and blue bow in it. Just one on the memories of our family,

  5. That's a lot of work, Cecelia, but it's beautiful. I didn't think hibiscus would grow in cooler climes. Thanks for sharing these lovely pics with us.

    1. Those neighbors are very active people. They have added to our block with starting a community gardens on the property just across the street from our home. They received the land after the house that used to sit on it was torn down after the house caught fire.
