Our Christian Beliefs

cecelia lester.com
Apostle's Creed

This past Sunday, our pastor made reference to the Apostle's Creed in his sermon. We sometimes forget these meaningful thoughts. I felt the need to share them with you. I will not give my personal interpretation of each phrase as I believe each phrase speaks for itself.

1. I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:

2. And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:

3. Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary:

4. Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead and buried: He descended into hell:

5. The third day he rose again from the dead:

6. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:

7. From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead:

8. I believe in the Holy Ghost:

9. I believe in the holy catholic church: the communion of saints:

10. The forgiveness of sins:

1l. The resurrection of the body:

12. And the life everlasting.

 Amen.

  1. It's important to re-affirm our faith on a regular basis, isn't it? I love this! Thanks for sharing, Jen

  2. Yes, we affirm this in our churches on a regular basis. In the past months I was at two funerals where we all affirmed this at the grave side...

    1. Marja: I find it important to affirm our belief in God and in Christ more and more each day. Thank you for stopping in and peace and blessings to you and yours.

  3. Thank you for sharing this with us. I love hearing, reading, and affirming this also... So many churches do not use this creed, and I think it is sad that many young people growing up really do not ever learn how to actually share exactly what they do believe...this has helped me through the years to put my beliefs into words that I could actually state when confronted or "put to the test" in life.
Have a blessed Mother's Day tomorrow.

    1. Pam: Yes, it is sad. However, they don't know because no one chose to teach it to them. I didn't learn it until later in life. Peace and blessings.
