You, my
brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the
sinful nature, rather serve one another in love. Galatians
5:13 (NIV)
Paul writes
to the Galatians that we are to serve one another in love. He warns them, and
us, that our freedom should not be used in a questionable or sinful way.
How can we
keep from causing hurt to others when we serve them? We should ask the LORD to
guide us in our actions and our speech as well as our attitudes.
Sometimes we
must engage what some call filters in our speech. (Gauge how something might
sound if we spoke certain things.)
Other times,
we must just do our jobs and choose not to listen to things that cause us to
slip up and fall into the ‘world mode’. This
takes some maturity in Christ.
We must
remember that God loves those we serve and those who serve with us as much as
He loves us.
Amen! Love is one of my favorite words, it is even the name of my ministry in Hebrew, AHAVA!! And indeed God has been teaching me about how important it is to Love one another and to do all things in love. Also the ministry of reconciliation, and in contrast the enemy will do everything to divide and destroy our relationships, so we must be extra diligent to come back to reconcile in Love!! I still have a lot to learn on this subject, so am glad to see your post reminding us to return to our focus on Love, both loving him and loving those in the Body of Messiah, and even the hardest one, loving our enemies!! Blessings and Love!
ReplyDeleteShayndel: Thank you for your kind comment. I am reminded daily that we are to do everything with the attitude of love. Even then, some days it is hard to do. God is still working on me on this.
DeletePeace and blessings to you as you minister to those God sends to you.
DeleteVery good advice. Sometimes we forget that God loves those we are called to serve. We can easily lose patience and get frustrated with the way people may reject us (actually rejecting God in us), but we must continue to serve with love as Christ has done for us. Thank you for this reminder today. Peace and love and blessings to you today.
ReplyDeletePam: Thank you for your thoughts. Yes, we can lose patience with those we are to serve. But we have a God who can forgive us for that shortness of attitude. Peace and blessings to you.
DeleteLet all that you do be done in love. I have often pondered that scripture. Is it possible to do everything in love? Food for thought Cecelia, thank you!
ReplyDeleteMarja: Yes, it is food for thought. Some days I fail at this. Other days, all my thoughts and actions seem to stem from my love for Jesus and for others. Peace and blessings to you.
