Abide in Him

Jesus is the Centre, Gospel Teaching Life Church

“I am the true vine, and My Father

is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me

  that does not bear fruit He takes away;

and every branch that bears fruit He

prunes, that it may bear more fruit…

Abide in Me and I in you. As the branch

cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it

abides in the vine, neither can you,

      unless you abide in me.”

John 15: 1,2, and 4 (NKJV)

Jesus speaks to His disciples about the importance of living for Him. He calls God the vinedresser, one who cares for the vine and the yield of fruit. He tells them that He is the vine; His followers are the fruit.

In His comparison, the vinedresser (God) prunes the vine for that vine to bear more fruit that stays on the vine matures and flourishes.

Is this not what God does for His followers today? Believers beset by difficult, if not traumatic, circumstances in their lives make decisions to either stay with God or go their own ways.

What are ways we can abide in Jesus?

    Through prayer

                Through Bible reading

                Through Bible study

                Through meditation

                Through Journaling

                Through listening to Him

Through obeying what He tells us

  1. I love the analogy of abiding in Christ and the picture of the grapevines. Yes, we need to stay connected to the main branch of the vine in order to continue to grow...staying connected to Christ through studying His Word and prayer and fellowship with fellow believers is a good way to "abide in Jesus". Obedience is also a key component of abiding in Christ. Many fail to do this. Applying what we learn is very important if we are going to grow. Good post.

  2. Amen! I love this verse too and seeing the illustration with the grapes. So timely too as this is just the grape harvest season at the end of the Fall Feasts. Yeshua is the Vine! May we abide in Him and abide in His Love! Blessings and Peace to you and your family.

Thank you Jesus for Your Love!❤️

    1. Shayndel: Thank you for your kind thoughts. God is good to His children. We have to hang onto that thought in the face of what we see going on around us. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
