In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a
little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the
genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes,
though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the
revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though you do not
see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls. 1
Peter 1:6-9 (NKJV)
Believers have times of grief due to trials entering
their lives. Knowing Jesus does not make us exempt from the hurts of our
earthly life.
However, the apostle Peter tells us because of the
realness of our faith, being more valuable than gold, we will receive God’s
praise (commendation or approval), honor (possibly crowns at the judgment seat
of Christ) and glory (a precious, enduring, and genuine faith) because of our
suffering.
Like Peter’s readers, we have not actually seen Jesus.
However, we rejoice with a joy we cannot describe to anyone else.
Prayer: Father God; We thank You for our salvation, for
your guidance through our days. We thank You that, when we see You, you will
honor us with various crowns for our faith while we walk this earth. In the
Name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
I know how difficult it is to rejoice when we are in the midst of trials, but when we know Christ and what He endured for us, our troubles seem much smaller. He gives us the grace we need to endure as we need it. I know I can rely on Him to see me through.
ReplyDeletePam: It is most comforting to know that Christ is with us in those times of trial and uncertainty. He does give us grace and His mercy to give us strength to withstand all the things the world and the enemy throw at us. Peace and blessing to you and yours.
