A Mighty God RJD #11

Journal Entry December 13, 1998

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be on His shoulder.
And his name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
 Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6(NKJV)

Isaiah lists four titles for Jesus. Tonight, I will reflect on the title Mighty God. He is the strongest person I know; He bears all our burdens, all of our sorrows, all our grief. Psalm 55:22 tells us He will sustain us. He will never let the righteous fall.
Tonight, my husband had to hear something about a man in our church; he heard this story from some former members. I had my reasons for not sharing this story with Jim.
1.) At some point fact becomes gossip or at least hearsay.
2.) I was concerned about the gentleman and the turn of events. I didn’t want to                                communicate anger or apprehension to my husband.
3.) I don’t always understand my husband’s reaction to what I tell him.
4.) I try not to spread rumors or pass on tales or bad stories on people.
5.) I want God’s approval on my life; so I try to abide by His rules and                                            teachings.
I have to trust God with my feelings for these people. I need to know that my  feelings for these people are true and in line with what God wants.
I believe God can be trusted for everything and, because of His great might that my trust is as it should be. I want to examine my heart to see if I am correct in my thoughts.
Lord, search me, look into my heart and see if I am attaining the qualities that You desire me to have. Please forgive me for my bad behavior that I displayed today.

  1. Cecelia, You are so wise and sensitive to apply scripture, seek Him and be careful - it truly is a fine line. As women and wives it- we really have to seek the Lord on what and how we communicate to our husbands and others...also what we allow ourselves to listen to. Thank you for sharing. Have a beautiful weekend.

    1. Dawn, thank you for the kind comment. These are learned reactions to the world. I see people going through things that are heartbreaking and they still keep witnessing for Jesus. All God's children should learn to rely on Him for things that normally vex us.

  2. It's a hard thing to face oneself in light of the world on one hand and the Word on the other. I recognize your struggle, and am glad you are there, standing and standing and standing firm--no matter what others do. Even others who sit beside us in the pews. Gossip is such an insidious thing, I think I forget that even telling my husband things is just that. Thank you for the hard, good truth shared here.

    1. Thank you for your warm thoughts. You are right. It is hard to look at what we do in the light of the world and in the light of the Word. Sometimes, we feel it's lonely standing in that gap for Jesus but we have to remember that He is there with us.

    1. Thank you for your kind words. I try to remain open to what He speaks and teaches me. I have found that, when I am,I learn more than what I thought possible.

    1. For some reason, God allows me to be in these sticky situations. Several times I have had to NOT say anything about some issue of which I am aware. Thank you for your thoughts.
