“Love the Lord, your God with all your heart, and with all
your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind.” Luke 10:27, Lev.
19:18 (NIV)
Jesus replied to a
legal expert who had asked what we must do to inherit eternal life, “What is
written in the law?” The expert answered by quoting from Leviticus.
What do
these words mean? Simply put, we are to loved God WITH ALL THAT WE ARE- heart,
soul, strength, and mind.
*The
heart is thought to be the seat of our emotions.
* The
soul is who we truly are. Other names for the soul are persona, or spirit.
*Our
strength is our physical stamina.
*Our mind is that part of us that
controls our thoughts.
We need
to practice turning our whole selves, heart, soul, strength, and mind over to
God. By doing this we would model His love for others, would be closer to God,
and have eternal life.

As I
transcribed these thoughts, I realized how simple these thoughts sound. I also
recognized that believing in Christ and living for Him is a lot simpler than we
make it. When are we going to communicate the simplicity of living for God?
YOu are so right; it is simpler than we make it. I think we humans like to complicate everything, so we'll feel in control. Which is really pride, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your thoughts, dear one,
Jen
Jeanette;
DeleteThank you. You said it well when you spoke of pride being equal to needing to "be" in control.
