Remain in My Love

“’As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s command and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.’”  John 15:9-12 (NIV)

Jesus puts it very plainly, when we obey His commands, we show our love for Him. He also tells us that His Father loves us just like He loves His Son.

God’s love stays with us during the times of illness—personal or of a family member, financial hardship, loss of a loved one and its aftermath.

There is something unique about an earthly parent’s love for a child. That unusual quality is magnified many times over when we describe the love God has for Jesus and the Lord, for His children.

When God sees us living for Him, doing His Will, and following His guidance, He smiles. When this happens, we receive a joy that surmounts anything we will ever know.

  2. This is a truly interesting challenge, to "remain in my love." I know we can never get away from the love of God, but I think we can squiggle away from believing it or being aware of it. Or, as you point out, practicing it.

Thank you, Cecelia. I'm glad for this reminder.

    1. Rhonda: We have to make a conscious effort to maintain friendships with one another. As I see it we have to also make a special effort to grow in our friendship with Jesus.

  3. Hi Cecelia, the contest winner!
Seems like we both need a little breather, huh? I actually will graduate from PT this week. It's been five weeks and I am doing so much better. I will keep you in my prayers that you will do better too. It takes a while for all the pain to go, but I can do my exercises at home.

Thank you for your input on our name too! Quiet Spirit is beautiful. I like it :)
Get some R and R on your blog-break too my friend. We all need that time to recharge and get better. Blessings on this week, and see you as soon as you get back.

    1. Ceil. I am scheduled for therapy until April 3rd. Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, I look forward to that service. It is one of the best services of the year. I like the introspection and the fact that we actually get to nail a list of our sins to a cross. Then we get to chose what we will do without for the next 40 days. Then our pastor places ashes on our foreheads. It makes me think of all Jesus did so that I might be able to live in heaven when my life on this earth is over.

  4. Hi, Cecelia:

Good luck with the physical therapy.

Thank you for reminding us to remain in His love. We all falter and, when we inevitably do, it's comforting to know He remains ever-vigilant, arms-outstretched and waiting to embrace us again.

    Be well.

    1. Janette: I seem to be doing well with my home exercises. One of the ladies (a nurse) at church suggested that I take my pain med before I go for therapy. I now know what she meant.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. God loves us unconditionally.
