“He that handleth a
matter wisely shall find good;
and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.”
Proverbs 16:20 (KJV)
Solomon,
the wisest man ever, wrote these words. We all know there are at least two ways
to handle Christian issues—the world’s way or the Biblical way. The verse talks
about matters being handled ‘wisely.’
When we
handle situations in the Biblical way, we honor God. Conversely, if a
circumstance is handled as the world does things, we run the risk of causing
more hurt.
The rest
of the story in this verse is: When we trust the LORD to work on our behalf we
are carefree and blessed beyond measure.
When
issues present themselves to us, we need to 1.) Pray about them, 2.) Give them
to God, and 3.) Leave them with Him. This way of operating takes practice. Our
leaving those circumstances with God both honors and pleases Him.
Would
our woes become things we could manage if we practiced these three steps for
all our needs? I believe the answer is yes.
Hi Cecelia! Welcome back! I hope your blog-break was healing for you.
ReplyDeleteThe most important step in giving it to God, is "Leave them with Him". I'm so bad at that! I'll drop off my worries and walk away...only to return and take them back from Him again. Sigh...
I want to be 'carefree and blessed', so I'd better keep working on letting Him intervene and heal.
Blessings!

Ceil: This "leave it to the LORD" is something we have to learn to do. I had to learn it and I believe every child of God has to, also.
ReplyDeleteUsing wisdom saves much heartache.
ReplyDeleteNot sure who said that.
Sandi: Thank you for stopping in. This is a very good saying to remember.
DeleteOh yes...Pray first always! Give them to God...we always try to do that...but leaving them there? That's the hardest part. Sometimes I have to go back and start all over again 1. Pray 2. Give them to God 3. Leave them there....okay...back to #1. again. However, the more we practice these steps, the easier they will become. Thank you for this reminder today. I needed it!
ReplyDeletePam: When we don't learn what God wants us to learn, He gives us remedial lessons. I know he has me, many times.
DeleteAs a doer, step three can be really hard for me. Yet, He continues to teach me, and is so patient. And His ways bring peace.
ReplyDeleteLynn: Hello, Thank you for stopping in. Step three has been one where we all have stumbled in our walk with the LORD. Blessings to you and yours.
DeleteIf I say it aloud, "Lord, I'm putting this in your hands," It helps.
ReplyDeleteJeanette: Thank you for stopping by, Yes, when we say that thought , we find ourselves remembering that action.Bessings.
