Have I not commanded you? Be strong and
courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your
God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9 (ESV)
The servant of the LORD spoke these words to Joshua as he
commissions Joshua. Joshua was given all the lands of what we now call the Mideast.
This servant told Joshua that “No man shall be able to stand before you all the
days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you I will not
leave you or forsake you. (Verse 5)
In the first nine verses of this chapter the servant of
God tells Joshua three times to be strong and courageous. I have always heard
if we hear something or read something in God’s Word three times that He means
it.
In our focus verse, God, through His servant asks a
question, “Have I not commanded you?” That gets my attention. He then reminds
us that we are to be strong and to have courage.
Life throws some very hard things at us. Major surgeries,
sudden losses of loved ones through death, loss of employment, friends
relocating, loss of homes. God tells us we need to be strong in all these
issues.
We might face any of these scenarios and have a bit of
fear; when we look to God, those fears will be replaced by strength and courage
from our LORD Jesus Christ.
Have you ever had a time where you faced something and
were afraid of what you had to go through? Did you find your outlook changed
when you gave that circumstance over to God?
I feel it as a constant need to roll all my worries on the Lord. Thank you for the word!
ReplyDeleteDavid: Thank you for visiting my blog today. You are right; it is a constant need to turn those worries over to the LORD. May God give you peace and blessing as you walk with Him.
