Jesus Prepares Our Heavenly Homes

In my Father’s house are many rooms, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go there to prepare a place for you. John 14:2 (NIV)

The LORD Jesus continues to comfort the disciples. He tells them—and us—that His Father’s house is big enough for all His children. I find this comforting when I go through an emotional downtime.

He tells them that what he told them was true. We have no reason to doubt what Jesus says. He speaks for His Father. The words He speaks are meant to comfort us or to allow us to grow in our faith.

The part of this verse that I like is the part where Jesus tells them, and again us, that he is going there to prepare a place for us.

Some translations say “there are many homes”
But, for me, I have decided that it really does not matter if it is a large home or a small room. The important thing is that I live my life in a way that I can go there when my time here is over.

Have you ever wondered what your home in heaven will look like?

The highest compliment I have ever received was from a dear friend who is now in her heavenly home. She turned to me at church one Sunday and told me, “When I get to heaven, I hope my house is next door to yours.”
