God Stills the Waves

O LORD, God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD
and your faithfulness surrounds you. You rule over the surging sea,
when its waves mount up, you still them. Psalm 89:8-9 (NIV)

There is no one like God. He has no peers. He has no equal. The psalmist, Ethan, tells us that God is mighty. God possesses great strength unequaled by anything in this world. His faithfulness is evident to all who know Him. It encompassed His being.

God is the only One who can cause the waves of the sea to obey. He stills them when they rage. In like manner, He makes our lives and hearts calm when we have turmoil threaten our serenity.

We all have times where things affect us in a way we might not like. We get depressed and have thoughts that are not our usual ones. We must look to God for the answers to those thoughts and questions that plaque us at those moments.

What are ways we can shed ourselves or these times we feel awash in our sad thoughts?
We can pray. We can search the scriptures for guidance. We might be able to find a peaceful setting- a park, a quiet pond, a serene area of your back yard. Maybe we can go for a walk. Just a change of pace or a change of scene can help.
