Do not love the world or anything in the
world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all
that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of
life—is not of the Father but is of the world and the world is passing away and
the lust of it, but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:15-17 (NKJV)
John the Apostle tells us some deep thoughts here.
He points out that all the divisive actions and thought
we see and hear in this world are created by the world and not by God.
We see and hear of things every day that bring heartache
and sadness to God’s people.
Our city recently heard of at least three shooting in
less than a week. One of them was due to road rage and involved narcotics. I
don’t believe God wants us to have these issues in our world. But certain
segments of our society seems to want what it wants.
I have all but given up watching the TV news programs
because certain elements of make claims that are not true or cause detriment to
our people.
However, we must not forget that God is watching over all
the events that cause Him pain. We serve a God who loves us and guides us
through these fallen times.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus asks his disciples if they
want to leave Him as several others have done. Simon Peter responds by saying,
“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and
know you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6:68, NIV)
Yes, we who follow Jesus believe and know that we are to
continue to walk with Him to live with Him forever.
I have always loved Peter's response to Jesus, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life..." There can be no better One to whom we should go...no better place to safely abide forever. Praise God we are able through His grace and forgiveness to abide with Him no matter what the world throws at us. Amen. Thank you again for that lovely card, and for your prayers. That means so much to me. Thank you.
ReplyDeletePam: Peter's response hast kept me close to the LORD through several times of personal trial. Yes, we are able, through the LORD's grace and mercy, to stay close to Him whatever or circumstance. Prayers going up for you and your family. Peace and blessings.
DeleteHe will guide us indeed through this fallen times, we have nowhere else to go... like the disciples. Let's stay close to Him who has all the answers.
ReplyDeleteMarja: Have you heard Janet Pascal's "Where Can I Go?" It speaks of the only place we can go in times of trouble and doubt is "to the LORD!' Peace and blessings to you and yours.
