The Beauty of the LORD

We see God’s beauty each season of the year. He creates it for our enjoyment. We marvel in the colorful display of the autumn. Those of us who are of a certain age remember raking leaves in a huge pile and seeing children jump in that pile.

Wintertime brings a different beauty to our earth. The pristine fields and yards resulting from a freshly fallen snow are a sight to behold. We remember building snowmen in our yards. We also remember seeing or being in snowball fights. What men don’t remember building a snow fort as a protection against those who pelted them with snow packed snow missiles.

When spring arrives, we all look forward to seeing violets and crocuses dotting our lawns. My best friend looks for dandelions as her notice that spring has arrived. The colors of spring brighten our hearts as we watch flowers and trees being to blossom.

When summer comes, we look forward to the fresh fruits and vegetables from the fields and gardens. The colors of summer are vivid. We don’t tire of seeing them.

These sights are beautiful and are from God. He created them to bless us in ways only known to Him. Let us each one remember to thank Him for the beauty of each season as we go through e ach of them.

Thinking about God’s blessing of the beauty of nature reminded me of this hymn.

This Is My Father’s World

This is my father's world

And to my listening ears

All nature sings, and round me rings

The music of the spheres

This is my father's world

The birds their carols raise

The morning light, the lily white

Declare their maker's praise

This is my father's world

I rest me in the thought

Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas

His hand the wonders wrought

This is my father's world

Oh, let me never forget

That though the wrong seems oft so strong

God is the ruler yet

This is my father's world

Why should my heart be sad?

The Lord is king, let the heavens ring

God reigns, let the earth be glad

This is my father's world

He shines in all that's fair

In the rustling grass, I hear him pass

He speaks to me everywhere

In the rustling grass, I hear him pass

He speaks to me everywhere.

    1. Pam: Thank you for your kind thoughts. I am finding myself enjoying the traditional hymns of the church. I attend the contemporary worship service at church because it is the later service. I need to try to get going in the mornings and go to that earlier service. Peace and blessings to you and yours.

    1. Marja: Thank you for your thoughts. We had our first snow, yesterday (Sunday). I was able to get to church but a friend of mine who lives in a housing development north of the church didn't think it wise to venture out. We live in town. After a certain age, winter becomes a person's least favorite season.
