God Came to Earth

These thoughts came to me a few years ago. They have always been true. They tell us about Jesus’ purpose in coming to earth. Let’s all try to remember that He came for each of us.

As a baby,

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:11-12 (ESV)

Into a poor family,

And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. Luke 2:6-8 (ESV)

Was tempted by the enemy,

And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness 2 for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry. Luke 4:1 (ESV

Saw heartache and sickness among the people,

So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, those having seizures, and paralytics, and he healed them. Matthew 4:24 (ESV)

Died a horrible death, yet was sinless,

One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” Luke 23:39-41 (ESV)

Asked the Father to forgive those who crucified Him.

And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments. Luke 23:34 (ESV)

Comforted the disciples,

Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” John 20:26 (ESV)

Forgave Peter

When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”, He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.

John 21:15-17 (ESV)

Ascended to the right hand of His Father.

And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. .” Acts 1:9 (ESV)

Is coming again

And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” Acts 1:10-11 (ESV)

Will live with His people.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.

Revelation 21:3

  1. And that is pretty much the life of Christ in a nutshell! Very well said and put together. And what a powerful life it was/is...because He still lives...and we can face tomorrow because He is living and is ever making intercession for us to the Father. We are truly blessed. Thank you for sharing this. Excellent!

  3. And then to think that He only lived 33 years on earth among the people, a full life in a sense, for He said: it is finished!
