Blessed are those who mourn,
For they
shall be comforted.
Matthew
5:4 (NIV)
These words, spoken by Jesus, bring comfort to many
people who grieve the loss of a loved one.
When a person goes into mourning, Jesus stands beside him
or her, and brings comfort. He wraps His arms of love around each of them,
draws them close, and whispers needed words into his or her ear.
This scripture speaks volumes to people in our nation
during this time of the pandemic.
Those who mourn during these days could not be with their
loved ones during their final hours on earth. This adds to their grief.
We don’t know how this Coronavirus got such a hold on our
world. Another addition to their grief.
Many of those who lost their lives were elderly and
unable to ‘fight back’. I find this personal. I lost a cousin to this disease.
I have a couple of friends who each have mothers who are in the same health
care facility.
Whatever the source of grief those who are mourning, may
they find comfort in these ten words spoken by our LORD Jesus Christ.
Oh Cecelia, I am so sorry to hear about your cousin. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. I have a good friend whose father just died in a nursing home, and she was unable to be with him. It is very sad. Not even sure what they will do for a funeral. Yes, these are difficult times that we've never really experienced before in our lifetime. Praying that things will soon begin to calm down and get back to some kind of normal. May the Lord give us peace and comfort and strength for the days ahead.
ReplyDeletePam: My cousin and his wife were residents of a local nursing home. Their oldest daughter works there as an LPN. She has been in quarantine because she tested positive. I believe her dad died shortly after she was quarantined. Yes, we are living in difficult times. I don't know what the 'new normal' will look like. I have to remember that God has all this under His control. Peace and Blessings.
DeleteI am so glad Cecelia that the words of Jesus decrease in power. I was just reading a book from a man who came to faith in prison while reading 'Run, baby run' by Nicky Cruz. That book is old, but the words about the saving power of Jesus are still the same. They are not bound by time or space. Thank you lord.
ReplyDeleteMarja: We serve a Savior who knows all we go through while we walk this earth. He knows our needs and guides us through those times we don't really understand. When we lean on Him, we learn what He wants us to know. Peace and blessings.
