Something I am doing

I have always had an interest in photography. I have never really done much with it, other than for our family. Our son, Roger really got into landscape photography when he was a young adult. He even submitted some to places that used them for calendars.

When he lived in Kansas, he camped on a vacation in Rocky Mountain National Park. He took pictures of the different areas. He sent us hard copies. This was in July. I told Hubby that we ought to pick out 12 or 13 of the best shots and have a calendar made from those pictures for Christmas. When it was all said and done, we had made at least 10 of them. Everyone who received one was happy to get one.

Four years ago, we purchased a Dogwood tree for our backyard. When it blooms each spring, we watch it each day to see how the blooms are coming along. This is how it looked in early May. For Father's Day, I wanted to get Hubby a framed print of this photo. He wanted a new pocket knife. I thought about getting the picture made and the frame bought in addition. I made two trips to the CVS expressly to get this project done. No way!

I decided I could try to print it out from my computer and find a frame I had around here. I had an
8.5 X 11 frame. (Think cheap, flat black.) He caught me as it printed out. I had to tell him about how I wanted to do this for him for Father's Day but he wanted a new pocket knife. He jokingly said, "You can take the pocket knife back and get the picture made.  He finally decided to tell me he wanted a bigger print with a nicer frame so we could put it in our living room, "so we both can enjoy it." No wonder, I love this man.

I had to order the print because the kiosk only made 8.5 X 11prints. Now, we have to look for a frame that will hold an 11X 14 picture. This has helped perk me up. Praise the LORD.

  1. What a beautiful tree and a great story :) Your husband is right, why not both enjoy the picture. I had to look up the word Dogtree in Dutch.

  2. Oh that is beautiful, Cecelia! What a gorgeous Dogwood tree! Yes, that is frameworthy! And I hope your hubby got the pocket knife too! I am glad you are learning how to use your camera. Do you have a program on your computer to edit your photos? I use Picasa, but I don't know if you can still upload that program. They changed it a few years ago. I still had it in my computer so I hope I don't ever have to give it up. Enjoy your new hobby...and keep showing us the pictures!! Have a blessed day my friend.

    1. Pam:Thank you for your kind thoughts. Yes, Hubby got his pocket knife. This particular picture is from my cellphone. I have uploaded photos from my camera but most of them are from last Christmas. Hmm! Maybe I will do a Christmas in July post. I'll have to think about that. Peace and blessings.
