Christ our Pilot, Sallman |
Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust
and does not respect the proud nor such as turn aside to lies.
Psalm 40:4 (NKJV)
Words of David
From time to time, we experience difficult things in our lives-sudden serious illness in our families, loss of employment, death of a loved one,- events that we have to face even though they seem to be hard to understand.
David tells us that the person who trusts God is blessed. He further defines one who trusts as one who chooses not to respect those who think too highly of themselves, or one who comes across as being a ‘know it all’.
Also, one who trusts in God will refrain from listening to those who repeatedly abandon the truth for lies.
When we follow the Lord, we have all of His blessings for us and His power keeping us safe. Then we are truly blessed.
I often wonder what those who don't have the Lord front and center in their lives weather the storms that will inevitably come.
ReplyDeleteBlessings always, Cecelia!
Martha Jane: I have seen what can happen when those who don't know the Lord face extremely serious times. It is not anything very pretty. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
DeleteI've always loved that painting of Jesus as our Pilot. There are so many good paintings out there from our past of Jesus knocking at the door of our heart, Jesus standing next to the sick person beside the Doctor, others that really speak to how we see Jesus. What a blessing to Know Him and put our trust in Him in every situation. Thank you.

DeletePam: At the Christian University in our town, there is a display of Warner Sallman's works. I am sorry to admit that I have not been there to see it. My favorite is "The Head of Christ." My husband, a Navy veteran, likes this one. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
